Introduction to the verb fricoter
The English translation of the French verb fricoter is “to hobnob” or “to have an affair.” The infinitive form of fricoter is pronounced “free-koh-tay.”
Fricoter comes from the Old French word “friquer,” which meant to rub or chafe. Over time, it evolved to mean engaging in secret or illicit activities. In modern French, it is most commonly used to mean having a casual or flirtatious relationship with someone.
