Entêter means to insist or persist stubbornly.

Examples of entêter in Every Day Usage

  1. J’ai essayé de le convaincre, mais il s’est entêté à croire qu’il avait raison. (I tried to convince him, but he stubbornly believed he was right.)

  2. Ne vous entêtez pas à essayer de changer les choses, elles sont comme elles sont. (Don’t insist on trying to change things, they are how they are.)

  3. Elle s’entête à refuser de venir avec nous, même si on lui a expliqué que c’était important. (She stubbornly refuses to come with us, even though we explained it was important.)
