Introduction to the verb clamser
The English translation of the French verb clamser is “to kick the bucket” or “to die.” It is pronounced “klahm-SAY.”
The verb clamser comes from the Old French word “clamser” meaning “to shut tight” or “to close.” It eventually evolved to have the meaning of “to die” in modern French. It is most often used colloquially to refer to someone dying suddenly or unexpectedly.
