Plus-que-parfait (Pluperfect) Tense Conjugation of the French Verb incurver
Introduction to the verb incurver
The English translation of the French verb incurver is “to curve” or “to bend.” It is pronounced as “an-koor-vay.”
The word “incurver” comes from the Latin word “incurvare” which means “to bend inward.” In French, it is most commonly used in the Plus-que-parfait tense, which is the past perfect tense. This tense is used to talk about an action that was completed before another past action.
Three simple examples of its usage in this tense are:
1) J’avais incurvé mes doigts pour attraper la balle. (I had curved my fingers to catch the ball.)
2) Tu avais incurvé ton dos pour porter le lourd sac. (You had bent your back to carry the heavy bag.)
3) Ils avaient incurvé leur chemin pour éviter les rochers. (They had curved their path to avoid the rocks.)
In these examples, the action of incurve (to curve) was completed before another past action. The infinitive form, incurver, is not used in these sentences as it is replaced by had + past participle in English.
