Introduction to the verb marger
The English translation of the French verb marger is “to edge” or “to trim.” It is pronounced “mar-zhay.”
Marger comes from the Old French word “margir,” meaning “to border” or “to fringe.” It is most often used in everyday French in the Subjonctif Plus-que-parfait tense, which is a past subjunctive tense that expresses a hypothetical or uncertain action that occurred before another past action. This tense is formed by using the auxiliary verb “avoir” or “être” in the Imperfect Subjunctive tense, followed by the past participle of the verb.
