Introduction to the verb aider
The English translation of the French verb aider is “to help.” It is pronounced as “eh-day.”
The word aider comes from the Latin verb adjuvare, meaning “to give aid or assistance.” In everyday French, it is most often used in the Conditionnel Présent tense, which expresses a hypothetical or possible action in the present or future.
Three simple examples of its usage in this tense are:
