Introduction to the verb aider
The English translation of the French verb aider is “to help.” It is pronounced “ay-dey” in the infinitive form.
Aider originated from the Latin word “adiutare” which means “to assist.” It first appeared in Old French around the 12th century. In everyday French, aider is a common verb used to express helping someone in a variety of situations.
