Futur Simple (Simple Future) Tense Conjugation of the French Verb débarder
Introduction to the verb débarder
The English translation of the French verb débarder is “to de-bark,” “to clear,” or “to haul.” The infinitive form of the verb is pronounced “day-bar-day.”
Débarder comes from the combination of the prefix “dé-” which means “to undo” or “to remove,” and the word “barde” which originally referred to the protective armor worn by knights, but now means “bark” in the context of trees. The literal meaning of débarder is therefore “to remove the bark.”
In everyday French, débarder is most often used in the Futur Simple tense to talk about future actions that involve clearing or hauling away something, particularly in relation to forestry or agriculture.
Here are three examples of débarder in the Futur Simple tense with their respective English translations:
- Nous débarderons les troncs demain matin. (We will haul away the trunks tomorrow morning.)
