Introduction to the verb ester
The English translation of the French verb ester is “to be/to stay”. It is pronounced “ess-tay”.
The language origin of ester can be traced back to the Latin word “stare” which also means “to be/to stay”. In everyday French, ester is most often used in the Futur Simple (simple future) tense to talk about actions or situations that will happen in the future.
Here are three simple examples of its usage in the Futur Simple tense, along with their English translations:
