Le Present (Present Tense) Conjugation of the French Verb identifier
Introduction to the verb identifier
The English translation of the French verb identifier is “to identify”, pronounced as “ee-dahn-tee-fee-ay”.
The language origin of identifier is Latin (from the word “identificare”), and it is most commonly used in everyday French to refer to the act of recognizing or establishing the identity of someone or something.
Here are three simple examples of its usage:
- Je dois identifier tous mes bagages avant de les enregistrer. (I have to identify all my luggage before checking them in.)
- La police a utilisé des caméras de surveillance pour identifier le voleur. (The police used surveillance cameras to identify the thief.)
- Elle a du mal à identifier les différentes espèces d’oiseaux. (She struggles to identify the different bird species.)
Note: In French, the verb identifier can also be used reflexively (s’identifier) to mean “to identify oneself” or “to relate to”. However, for the purposes of this task, I have only provided examples using the non-reflexive form of the verb.
