Introduction to the verb conjuguer
The English translation of the French verb conjuguer is “to conjugate.” It is pronounced “kohn-zhue-ghe.”
The word conjuguer comes from the Latin word “conjugare” which means “to join together.” In French, it is most often used to refer to the act of changing the form of a verb to match its subject in tense, person, and number.
In everyday French, the Passé Antérieur tense is used to talk about actions that happened before another action in the past. It is formed by using the auxiliary verb “avoir” or “être” in the Passé Simple tense followed by the past participle of the main verb.
