Introduction to the verb cocufier
The English translation of the French verb cocufier is “to cuckold” or “to cheat on one’s spouse.” It is pronounced “koh-koo-fee-ay.”
Cocufier comes from the Old French word “cucu” which referred to the cuckoo bird that was known for laying eggs in other birds’ nests. In modern French, “cocu” is used to describe someone who has been cheated on or betrayed by their partner.
