Introduction to the verb graver
The English translation of the French verb graver is “to engrave” or “to carve.” It is pronounced as “grah-vay.”
The word “graver” comes from the Old French verb “graver,” meaning “to scratch.” It shares the same Latin root “grava” which means “to scrape or scratch.” It is most commonly used in its infinitive form (graver) as well as in the past participle (gravé) in everyday French.
