The English translation of the French verb chaptaliser is “to chaptalize.” The infinitive form is pronounced “shap-ta-lee-zay.”
Chaptaliser comes from the name of the French chemist and politician Jean-Antoine Chaptal, who first developed the process of adding sugar to wine to increase its alcohol content.
