Introduction to the verb dénoter
The English translation of the French verb dénoter is “to denote” or “to indicate.” It is pronounced “dey-noh-tey” with the infinitive form dénoter.
Dénoter comes from the Latin word “denotare,” which means “to mark” or “to signify.” In everyday French, it is most often used in the Subjonctif Passé tense to express a past subjunctive action or possibility.
